KRISISDnB Feature

DUB ALLEY - Josh and Willo

This is our first interview with some of the artists who have played on KRISISDnB so cheers for doing this for us.

Big ups the Wobble boys from Perth, Australia. After appearing on KRISISDnB a few times so far its obvious to us that these boys have got major talent !!

OK, well after speaking to you both a fair bit NeO and myself know a bit about you both but lets start from scratch....

Basic details :

Names : Josh Hyde & Mark Wilson
Record Label : Wild West Recordings/Second City Records/Radical Beats/Impulse Beats/Deadly Records/Source Recordings/Dirty Needle Recs/Maximum Ammo
Home Town : Perth, Australia
Website : www.myspace.com/duballey

KRISISDnB : So your production name is Dub Alley and ur names are Josh and Willo. How did you come up with the name 'Dub Alley' ?

Dub Alley : Its quite funny because we both teamed up under our Dj names Rawhyde & KantanKruz at first which was a bit of a mouthful, and once we were thinking about making a collective name Willo asked me what i thought of Dub Alley and i said sounds good to me, so the first name we came up with was a winner lol.

KRISISDnB : You are both from Perth, Australia. Whats the drum n bass scene like out there?

Dub Alley : The DnB scene over here is Perth is very very healthy. We are treated to an International act almost weekly now and have DNB nights running Wednesday to Sunday and its not slowing down. Massive New Year events on the horizon and 08 is looking to top 07 already and its not even here yet hahaha. Wicked vibe over here too we get great feedback from international guests that perth has one of the most energetic D-floor massivs in the world, Perth crew def kno how to party thats for sure! West Coast reprazent!!!

KRISISDnB : What do you both do for a daytime job??

Dub Alley : Well Willo has his own business looking after the home maintainence side of things and I work for my Old boy's company which specialize in global pipeline constructions. Plus im a full time dad so time is precious..

Dub Alley 2

KRISISDnB : How long have you both been mixing and producing and what got you started on both?

Dub Alley : Willo has been mixing for about 7 years now having starting off with Techno steppin up later to DnB, with his studio productions going back about 3 years now. I have been spinning tunes myself for about 3 years and been producing for about 5ish. I can safely say that the love of Bass got us started on mixing and the technical production came from us wanting to spin our own productions in our sets

KRISISDnB : Where does the inspiration for your tunes come from?

Dub Alley : Marijuana. Lol just joking kids drugs are bad, the inspiration comes from the bangin tunes that superstars like Hazard, Vital Elements, Clipz, Zen etc play and makes us wanna move. These tunes give us huge feelings of wellbeing (ie goosebumps on drops im sure ya'll kno what im talking bout) and NOTHING can beat that. Once we got the same feelings from our own productions we knew we were on a good thing;-)

KRISISDnB : Apart from playing on KRISISDnB (obviously), what have been your biggest achievements in your music careers?

Dub Alley : Our biggest achievement so far came just last week when our first release came out on our imprint Wild West Recordings. That was a huge weight off our shoulders and now the ball is rolling there wont be any stopping us. We are also residents for Aussie's biggest DnB promotor LOADED DICE which allows us to play along side some pretty heavy acts such as Mampi Swift, Andy C, Friction, Zinc, Fresh, Hype just to name a few.

KRISISDnB : What other types of music do you listen to?

Dub Alley : Drum & Bass all the way these days (maybe a bit of hip hop too)

KRISISDnB : What are your targets for the next year or 2?

Dub Alley : We NEED to get over to the UK part of the world next year period. We have a lot of ppl asking us when we are coming over and now my son is a bit older i can afford to spend some time away. We have a UK/US Tour on the cards for next year, apart from that other targets mennacing D-Floors worldwide and keep on pumping out heavy as 12's

KRISISDnB : What have been the biggest events you have played at?

Dub Alley : WE just played along side Hype, Daddy earl & Sigma a few weeks back and that was massive. Also we played sell out shows with Mampi, Zinc and Ed Rush & Optical and the shows are all so ram jammed over here, so too close to call i think...

Dub Alley 4

KRISISDnB : Who are your favourite DJs and MCs worldwide?

Dub Alley : I can safely say our fav producer would have to be hazard, due to his heavy tunes in sets prob one of our fav dj's too although Woz from Sigma just came through Perth and goddam that boy has some skills on tha 1's & 2's

KRISISDnB : We could see that the Inhibit crews 24 hour show was messy. Any gossip that we should all know?

Dub Alley : Hahahaha man that was a Messy 24hours. Basically Access's house got trashed, the cops made a few calls past due to noise complaints and the lingering scent of mull. Very drunkn show that was great fun tho!

KRISISDnB : Your new EP is due out soon. Tell us about it and what can people expect from it?

Dub Alley : We have the "Downunder Ep" coming out early 08 on Second City Records. Basically u can expect 4 stenchin jump up bits on that one, all tunes have been getting good support and apparently causing a lot of damage on the airwaves and in the raves over your part of the world. Keep posted for that one should be big!

KRISISDnB : Cheers for being interviewed for the site. Good luck with the new EP, and will see you back again on the station very soon !!
