Starting mcing a while ago feel ready enought to make some demo's and try and get my name about. Just looking for any tips and pointers to make sure first is decent ;)
Also I no its comparable to how long is a piece of string but how long should i look at timewise?
Safe thanks :D
Thanks for the advice it helps a lot especially for someone like me who is trying to be original! definately will keep in touch and wanted to know if u'd tell me what ya think if I finished a mix? if there's one thing I've learnt its that music constantly evolves and its not what we as mc's like its all about the people! If ya don't take advice you never learn and never evolve a technique :) hittin austria on friday for some snowboarding for 2 weeks so will be nice break from work to focus :D
Thanks again for advice and time to get this hustle flowing!
Have a good time in Austria !! We still got loads of snow over here in Belarus and its fuckin cold as well. Spring better come soon hahaha
Youve got the right vision in that you understand the need of any MC to perform to what the crowd wants. There are always going to be some people who like an MC on a set, and some that dont. Its your job to find the right balance to keep everyone happy, and every event you play at will be different.
Definately post up a link to a demo or PM the link directly to me or Fly.

Got to agree with all of what Fly said. Ive had far too many mcs on my shows that simply spit as fast as they can for 2hours constant and it does them no credit at all.
MC stands for Microphone Controller, or Master of Ceremonies, which in my book says he (or she) is there as a controlling factor on radio or at an event. They are not there to overpower the DJ. People do actually like to hear the tunes the DJ is playing as well.
Im most genres of music that have an mc (or rapper), its the lyrics that are important that people can relate to, and having good timing to fit the music.
There is no amount of time to say that you are ready or not, but if you are confident in your own abilities then thats a good start. I have to say its good to see an MC asking for advice from others, as most think they are already Skibba or Foxy before they have even done a set.
Dont try and jump in on a big event to start, ask a few local promoters to get you on the first few sets of a night so you get some experience. Maybe get a demo cd made if you know any DJs that will record you with them to hand out to promoters at local nights. Its a good look to have proof that you put the effort in to make a cd, rather than just turn up at a night saying things like 'im better than this mc on now, let me on the mic' which ive had plenty of MCs come up to me when ive run nights.
Some promoters record there nights as well, if you can get that then you can listen back for yourself and take an honest opinion of how you did and where you can improve in terms of lyrical content, balance between people hearing you and the music playing, and how much you hyped the crowd no matter whether there is 20 or 300 people there.
What you have to say to yourself is 'Would the people at the night have enjoyed it as much if you were there or not?'. In other words did you give them a better party?
The above is not words from a master, but in the same way as Fly and through my experience at DJing at events and from running KRISISDnB, I have some knowledge of the factors I look for in MCs.
Hope that helps and keep in touch !!

EZ NOW... IM NOT AN MC IM A DJ BUT I HAVE SOME SUCESSFUL MC PALS AND HAVE HAD SOME BIG NAMES ON SOME OF MY SETS IN THE PAST. ALSO IVE BEEN TO OVER 200 RAVES SO I KNOW WHAT 2 LOOK 4 IN A GOOD MC!
//BE ORIGINAL...
NO 1 WILL LISTEN 2 U OR RESPECT U AS AN ARTIST IF YOU SOUND THE SAME AS EVERYONE ELSE.
//ITS NOT A SPEED COMPETITION...
THERE IS TONS OF MCS OUT THERE TRYING 2 MAKE IT IN THE GAME BY GOING AS FAST AS THEY CAN NON STOP FOR AN HOUR, ITS NOT A GOOD LOOK AND PEOPLE WILL GET BORED EASILY. SPEED IS A FACTOR FOR DRUM AND BASS MCS COS OUR MUSIC IS FAST BUT YOUVE GOT 2 BE ABLE 2 RAP SLOW ASWELL 2 KEEP YOUR SET VAIRIED
//LYRICAL CONTENT...
YOUVE GOT 2 RYME ABOUT STUFF PEOPLE CAN RELATE 2 (THATS HOW SKIBA BECAME SO POPULAR RAPPING ABOUT CARS, COMPUTER GAME,S FOOD E.T.C) WHILE ALL THE TIME KEEPING IT ORIGINAL. ALSO TRY 2 STAY AWAY FROM CHEESEY STUFF COS NO1 LIKES IT AND IT LOOKS BAD ON U!
//CROWD HYPE...
BELIEVE IT OR NOT MCING ISNT ALL ABOUT LYRICS, YOUVE GOT 2 B GOOD AT HYPING THE CROWD ASWELL. 2 DO THIS EFFECTIVLEY YOUVE GOT 2 OOZE CONFIDENCE. DONT FORGET YOUR SHOUTOUTS, WORK WITH THE DJ (NOT AGAINST HIM) AND READ THE CROWD (IF YOUR AT A CLUB) I.E REWINDS
THERES OBVIOUSLY A LOT MORE 2 IT THAN THAT BUT THERE THE BASIC PRINCIPALS. BE YOURSELF ON THE MIC, LET YOUR PERSONALITY ROLL OFF YOUR TOUNGE AND PEOPLE WILL LIKE IT.
DONT FORGET ALL OF THE ABOVE IS MY OWN PERSONAL OPINION BUT LIKE I SAY I RECKON IM QUALIFIED 2 GIVE ADVICE IN THIS AREA. A GOOD WAY 2 GAIN FEEDBACK IS USE SITES LIKE UTUBE AND READ THE COMMENTS.
HOPE THIS WAS OF USE TO U M8... GOOD LUCK... BIG UP YASELF

Yep, exactly what Fly & MX said ;0)
I'm personally not really into mc's unless they're good and by that i mean all the things previously mentioned....its the hibberdy, jibberdy, lightspeed only mc's that ruined it for me so tend not to have them if i can control it.
Between the 3 of us you can pretty much take it as professional opinion to follow as said!
I look forward to hearing u ;0)
