KRISISDnB : Thanks for being interviewed for the KRISISDnB. COM website. Firstly can you give us a brief background tohow you got into DnB? THE FORCE : I first started listening to dnb around 96/97 at a Techno night in Birmingham called the Atomic Jam. I remember going into the second room where they had the Dnb, thinking yeah man I’m in this. From there I got into the early jump up stuff, like the tunes V Recordings were putting out, the stuff the original Bristol Boys were doing under different aliases. I remember really being into the New Forms Album Roni did and Goldie ‘Timeless‘ was a big inspiration. After that it was the early Virus stuff Wormhole, Bad Company, Trace people like that. And from there it just progressed.

KRISISDnB : Can you tell us the projects you are working on at the moment? THE FORCE : I’ve recently moved house and studio so after a break for a few months I’m now back working full on in the studio, trying to write something I like enough to put out, which is never easy. I’m actually in the process of doing a track with one of the guys from Mutated Forms (G Ruff) which is going ok and I’ve got Eddie K (fellow DStyle signing) coming up soon to do a colab. Also I’m doing some dubstep stuff for a change. KRISISDnB : What can we expect from your appearance at your first KRISISDnB event? THE FORCE : Some new material from myself, from the DStyle camp and anything else I can get my grubby mitts on. Oh and I intend to rock the joint!! KRISISDnB : How long have you been mixing and producing and what got you started on both? THE FORCE : I started mixing around 95, playing house and techno, I was massively into Minimal Techno back then. I started producing properly around 2002 with the other original half of The Force before we spilt making me a solo artist. Producing was something I’d wanted to do for years but I’d always had other things to occupy my mind. KRISISDnB : What other types of music do you listen to? THE FORCE : Where do I start. Since I was 15 I’ve been into pretty much everything at one point or another. Rock, Soul, Hip Hop, Funk, Heavy Metal all types of dance music. At the moment I’m listening to a lot of dubstep, definetly feeling that sound right now! KRISISDnB : What are your targets for the next year or 2? THE FORCE : To build on the success I’ve had with the DStyle camp over the last few years and with my own label, Rebel Bass. Also to work hard in the studio to improve my sound. I also wouldn’t mind putting out some of this Dubstep stuff I’m working on unless it ends up in the Recycle Bin like most of my stuff, haha.

KRISISDnB : Who are your favourite DJs and MCs worldwide? THE FORCE : When I go out I like to check other sounds after I’ve been listening to dnb all week. Theres been some dubstep djs I’ve enjoyed hearing recently, Skream, Benga, Caspa. I also still like to hear some of techno djs, Richie Hawtin, Jeff Mills, Surgeon that I used to be into back in the day. MCs I always enjoyed working with Jakes, So yeah I’ll say him. KRISISDnB : As usual in our interviews we like to make ours a bit different from other interviews you may have done, so here is the 10second round.. KRISISDnB : Vinyl or mp3? THE FORCE : Nowadays MP3. Try affording dubplates on my wage! KRISISDnB : Online record shop or local record shop? THE FORCE : I buy most of my music online now as Digital Downloads. Infact I haven’t bought so much new music for years so definetly think this new Digital Download thing is a good thing for the scene. KRISISDnB : Promo or Picture disc?? THE FORCE : Promo (Those were the days) KRISISDnB : Mixmag or Kmag? THE FORCE : Kmag KRISISDnB : One Nation or Random Concept? THE FORCE : RUN ;o) KRISISDnB : Innovation in the Sun or Innovation at the Dam? THE FORCE : Never been to either. But always enjoy a trip to the Dam. So yeah Inno in the Dam for me. KRISISDnB : Anything you want to mention that we havent covered already? Any shout outs etc? THE FORCE : Yeah, look out for RBR002 (Another World b/w Kill Ur Killer) in stores now and RBR001 (Welcome To Earth b/w Gadget Girl) is being repressed after selling out and will be back in stores soon. Also keep checking www.myspace.com/theforcednb for news on releases, mixsets, gigs etc etc etc Shout out to Everyone @ Dstyle. Benny, Aries & Kurt @ Colab / Calypso. Can’t forget my man Alpha. Mutated Forms posse. Any djs that support my beats and the promoters who’ve booked me.
